Hello again, When Agnes McColl and John Dickie married in 1857 Craigengower, they were both farm servants. On the 1851 Census, John Dickie is at home in West Kilbride but I don't know where Agnes was. She was b. c1831 Lismore, parents Archibald & Agnes McColl. I wondered if she was on Cumbrae. Any help most appreciated. Regards, Inchworm

Hi Inchworm
I can only easily see one Agnes McColl with a Lismore birth place, slightly older, b. 1826, in the 1851 Census. She is showing in Glasgow, Lanarkshire as a visitor in a MacGregor household. Occupation general servant.
Regards.
Monica

Thank you for looking. Her parents were not classed as deceased on her marriage cert. in 1857, so I was hoping that she would be with them as I would like to find out more about her family. Regards, Inchworm

Can't remember if you said previously, what were Agnes's parents' names?

I've been looking at the 1841 Census first of all under Agnes and then IGI and the batch code for Lismore to try and get some siblings.
I don't know if you are aware that Ann and Agnes are variants. I think I can see your Agnes's christening as Ann in Lismore to parents Archibal McColl and Ann Carmichael:
1. ANN MCCOLL Christening: 03 APR 1830 Lismore, Argyll, Scotland 2. CATHRINE MCCOLL Birth: 30 MAY 1835 Lismore, Argyll, Scotland 3. MARY MCCOLL Christening: 14 JUN 1823 Lismore, Argyll, Scotland 4. PEGGY MCCOLL Birth: 03 NOV 1838 Lismore, Argyll, Scotland 5. SARAH MCCOLL Birth: 10 SEP 1841 Lismore, Argyll, Scotland
There are however no deaths showing for an Ann/Agnes Carmichael/McColl (with wildcards) post 1855.
I'll see if I can see them in 1841/51 with these names.

Thanks. I didn't know that Ann & Agnes were variants. Sorry, I am an English southerner. Your help is very much appreciated.
