Hi Anne Where did you get the info you have on young Daisy May? I've had a look for her in 1901 but cannot find her - maybe she was known under another name, perhaps born illegitimate and mother married? Or could she have died before 1901? Her birth registration is on FreeBMD
Daisy May Matthews Jul qtr 1898 Southampton Vol2c Pg4
Daisy May Matthews married in Southampton (district) in 1917 but her husband was from Newfoundland and she appears on the Newfoundland 1921 census with her new husband and two daughters. Married name Dyke.
On the detailed 1921 census she gives her birth month as May, birth year as 1898, and place of birth as England. I had also seen the birth reference you mention above, and assumed it was her. The person I am doing this for told me she was born in Southampton.
I also cannot find her on the 1901 England, this is why I wondered whether a baptism might help.
Thanks for your help so far, any other advice very welcome.
you could try contacting the local studies people. They hold index cards with details taken form Parish records across Southampton. Here's an email link for them...they're very friendly & usually respond quickly. Oh just thought, I hope it's ok to put an email on here. If it gets cut by the moderator, I'll PM it to you
