Robert Janeway was my great great grandfather.
He was born in 1834, in Lambeth, the 6th of Peter Janeway's 11 children and followed his father and siblings into the pottery business, becoming an "earthernware potter". He married Jane Rawlings, on July 29th, 1862, and the couple went on to have 8 children. He died, in 1884, leaving his children aged between 19 and under-2. Jane apparently kept the family from the workhouse by her talent for singing, until she re-married William Roach, in 1890.
