Does anyone have any idea where to look if people do not appear to be registered in the old parish records.  Someone in the past did a family tree which includes my family, only the dates are not always accurate and I was looking for more detail, but the old records for Dunscore and Irongray (sorry not Dumfriesshire I know) don't list anyone much before about 1800, and even after that the female births are missing
