Blunts of Whittlesey. St. Mary's parish
« on: Tuesday 16 November 04 14:38 UTC (UK) »

Am trying to find out more about Benjamin Blunt born circa 1810.  Who were his parents and did he have any siblings?  In the 1851 census he was a butcher, living in Delph Street, Whittlesey.  He had been married to Sophia Miller from Stamford in Lincs.  But she died after 1841.  Records should be in St.Mary's.  Any offers of a look up, please?

Hi, Frances,
Thank you for the info.  I had already found these possible sets of parents and  am inclined to think the right pair of parents are Benjamin and Eleanor.  I am not sure how to verify this, except that Samuel's siblings were George, Arthur and Emma.  Will post any progress made.

Hi Dawn, I don't think Benjamin and Eleanor are the right parents.
Had a look on the camb fhs and I think benjamin chr 1810 was a twin and his other twin was eleanor they both died in 1810 they were chr 0days old so I think your benjamin belongs to someone else. Unless they had another benjamin and he doesn't show on the baptisms but this particular Benjamin and Eleanor have chr for 11 children. So it doesn't seem likely.

I will have a look on the 1841 census for you later and see what I can find off there. Probably this evening ok. All the best Anjo

Hi again had a look on the 1841 there are loads of them!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is your benjamin

Benjamin  Blunt 30   F  J   m      Yes   ( Haven't a clue about Intials but
Sophia      Blunt 30                    No       that is suppose to be his occ )
George     Blunt  10                   No
Emma       Blunt   4                    Yes
Samuel     Blunt   9mts               Yes

In 1851 he is 43 so I would be more inclined to think that William Blunt and Martha who had a benjamin chr 1807 is more likely to be his parents.

I only looked on the index of the 1851 I don't have the actual census.
This is the ref if you want to look it up or for someone else reading this who could do a lookup for you HO107/1765  120A

I found a chr date for benjamin son of William and Martha on the lds site 7 apr 1807

William and martha had 2 other sons that i found chr for Thomas 1803
and William 31 Oct 1796.  There is loads of info submitted on the lds site and the name of the submitter in Utah have you been in touch with him he might just have the answer you want. Sorry can't be of any more help. If you want a lookup on the 1841 again just give me a shout ok.

Hi Anjo,
Thanks so much for the time you have spent searching for me.  It sounds as if you are right about William and Martha being Benjamin's parents.  I was really interested to hear there had been two other sons, Thomas and William.  I will try and check the submitter on the lds site as you suggested.
