If you were to purchase his death certificate it would hopefully give you more information...if the informant was aware of his details.
Hopefully a chatter will give you the registration number required and you can purchase and download immediately from

Hy Peter BOWEN died Wodonga Victoria aged 50 1943 ref 18702
Parents given as Wm Bowen and Elsie CAZADA

The only birth in Victoria that looks vaguely likely is
Harold BOWEN born Shepp 1894 ref 15577, parents Wm Bowen and Hetta Spinks  - it certainly doesn't fit with the WWII roll dates

Looking at WWII record, this information may have been found - Anne has not been online for some time. Date of marriage is given on the war service record at the archives

Trish a few things are not adding up -
He served in ww1 and ww2 .
The only WW1 service record for Harry BOWEN that I can see has it noted that the the name is an alias -
DAWSON Harry [Alias BOWEN Harry]
SERN 6049
POB Perth WA POE Perth WA NOK W Dawson Ailsa
The only BOWEN marriage to 1943 that is close is
BOWEN Theodore Peter
HANNON Doris Eileen
1939 Registration # 5385
Would be worth having a look at both marriage and death certs I would think.

I think the marriage reg I posted above is probably the correct one...on the WW2 service record his wife is Doris Eileen and married in 1939.
Will leave this now and see if Ann comes on board to respond...and yes I agree Trish, she has probably has found info in the meantime.
