Hi LesleyHannah,
Unfortunately that is not the correct one.
That Hannah Potter married William Eaton and in the 1891 census were at RG12/3001 Fol 31 page 28. On that census her age is given as 33 and her place of birth is not Uttoxeter. Whereas the Hanah Potter I am after was 43 in the 1881 census.
Thanks for you help

Hello
I've looked around for the children - at the moment can only find Jane in 1891 married to George Callister. Jane is Mrs Pugh in 1901. There is a marriage to Francis Pugh but he is not at home in 1901.(You probably know this but if it is any help and you need details- please post).
I think Hannah and children are Wood in 1871 (Manchester) so I was wondering if Hannah was really Mrs Potter- there is a marriage of Annie Wood to William Potter - is that her?
On the other hand there is a Hannah Potter in 1861 who fits-married to Henry in Chorlton on Medlock.  So perhaps she wasn't Mrs Wood (sorry I'm 'thinking aloud' here)
I was hoping that Hannah may be living with her family in later censuses but no. (not Jane or Kate anyway)
Just found Kate - Mrs Audley in 1901
Doing a search for Hannah born c 1838 Uttoxeter for Lancashire comes up with Hannah Potter as above; Hannah Wood -mispelling of Uttoxeter (1871) and 1901 - Hannah Peek Toxteth Park.
best wishes

Hi Heywood,
Many thanks for your message.
The Kate… Mrs Audley you refer to in the 1901 census is in fact my great grand mother, my surname is Audley.
She married Samuel Audley in August 1888 and they had their first child Kate in August 1890 in Liverpool. Despite the fact that that Kate married Samuel in Liverpool and had her first child in Liverpool I cannot find them in the 1891 census.
On her marriage certificate she gives her name as Kate Potter and her father as John Potter; on her birth certificate (April 1869) her name is given as Kate Wood, father John Wood mother Hannah Wood formerly Potter.

The information you have given me about Jane, Kate’s sister, is new to me.

With regard to the mother Hannah, she married Henry Potter in Q4 1859 and was living with him in the1861 census. Incidentally to make it even more confusing Hannah’s surname before she married was Wood!!! And in the 1871 census she was living with John Wood at Chorlton on Medlock.

Again I cannot find Hannah any where in the 1891 census.

Hannah Peek in the 1901 census is interesting I was not aware of her existence until receiving your message. She is born in the same year as Hannah Potter and in the same place. I have had a quick look at earlier censuses 1841 to 1891 inclusive and cannot find Hannah Peek their, neither can I find a record of her birth in the indexes.

Do you think Hannah Peek could be Hannah Potter using another name?
Thanks for your help.
Regards
Brian
