Amalgamated posts
« on: Friday 15 December 06 22:18 GMT (UK) »

This is the second time this has happened to me, my post has been amalgamated with someone else's who go there before me and I'm left wondering where it's gone. Would it be possible for the moderator to send a message to say this has happened? Something on the lines of 'We've moved yours, slowcoach' would do!  Huh

Mea Culpa  Embarrassed Embarrassed

I thought that when posts were merged, people would get a notification.

I'll send you a PM in future.

And while I'm here . . . . a general reminder to everybody about the main reason for merging:

most jokes and fun e-mails "do the rounds" and have been posted on RootsChat already.
Please use "search RootsChat" to check.

Thanks,  Smiley

Bob

I get the usual email - saying "topic merged" on both ones I have started or written to later.

Do you have "notify" turned off Roobarb?

Cheers

At the bottom of this little part - there are 3/4 small boxes - which you can turn on and off. - reply - notify - modify......

You can also alter your original "reports"  but as that was a long time ago for me will have have a proper look!  Grin Grin

Cheers

Keith

P.S. I presume you got an email to say I had replied to your question!?

It's in "Profile" - which you can enter from the top of this page - then "Modify Profile" - then "Notifications & Emails"

There are a list of 3 in "Edit Profile on that page.

I previously had the notify option turned on but my email inbox was getting full with just Rootschat replies, specially on The Lighter Side topics, so I turned them off. Don't think it would have appeared anyway as there was no reply after I had done the original post. Would it?  Huh

Hi Roobarb

If you have notifications turned on, you get an email if a topic to which you have contributed is moved, merged, split or any of the other diabolical operations the Mods do, as well as when you get a reply.

That explains it then. Think I'll leave it, don't think my cyber postie would be able to stand the extra burden!  Cool
