I've found him in 1851 listed in Ross. Note that Susan is listed as stepmother, not mother
William Hook Head 30 Ag. Lab Ross Emma " Wife 27 Abergavenny Eliza " Daur 4 Ross Anne " Daur 3 " William " Son 8 m " Susan " Stepmother W 50 Kings Capel HO107 Piece 1976 Folio 150 page 13
In 1841 I've found another William Hook living in Ross aged 60. with him are James Hook 12 and Thomas Hook 9. I wonder if this is his father? I can't find the 1821 William though.
There is a William Hook and Susan Bailey on the same page in 4th quarter 1842 Ross Vol 26 page 316 marriages. This would be my educated guess for your William's father, for what it's worth
Anne's birth certificate is 1st quarter 1848 Ross Volume 26 page 217. I suppose that would give Emma's maiden name, then you could (hopefully) track their marriage certificate, and then William's father. That's getting expensive though.

Thank you Isobel, for your time. I had not realized Susan was his stepmother! I have found a death for a William Hook in 1848 June quarter Ross, which would tie in with the William and Susan Marriage. William married Emma King in Bristol 1841, which would be why he was not on the Ross 1841 census. I think I will have to send for the Marriage cert of William and Emma. Thanks again, Eileen

I think this may be William in 1841
William Hook 20 MS Born in County - he is listed in a household with one other MS - Herefordshire Weston under Penyard - about 2 miles from Ross. Address looks to be Kingston Court - closest farm is owned by Henry Nuryam? HO107/421/23 7/8
No help in finding his family - sorry
Trish

Thank you Trish, for the look up, I have found another possible marriage for William to Emma Hargest in Ross 1845, which seems more likely as its nearer the birth of Eliza.
thanks for your help Eileen

Hi EBN, I found James Walker, born 1828 Ross (listed with William on the 1841) on the IGI with father William and mother Mary, so its very likely the marriage you found there was also 3 older daughters listed. thanks for your time and help
