Hi guys,
have just signed up for some web space and have been playing around with how to create websites.
have started really basic writing the HTML for this. (in notepad) just wondering how to put a gedcom onto the site. i have a page already for it to go on. i have exported the file into the website folders as a FTW gedcom thinggy...
how do i now let people look through it all.
i am NOT using a program to put stuff on the site only HTML... so am having some issues.
if this has been answered, please direct me to the relevant thread. I have had a look but can't find a thread on this at the moment. (i could be being blind though.
thanks in advance
Constance

Hi there,
thanks for replying Julian
i know how to export the GEDCOM... and how to put in in the web folder, but i don't know how to upload it on the website so it "looks pretty" or is there at all.
thats the part i'm having trouble with. i exported the file to the folder however when i tried to put it on the pages i had no way of makinging it be part of the website some how. i linked in the file...so it was attatched to a hyperlink, so when i opened it family tree maker poped up and asked if i wanted to look at the gedcom through that. i don't want that i want a searchable list of names or something...
can this be done...?
very frustrating

You can use something like GEDMILL which will generate you a list - but in a similar way to a lot of FH programs.

Berlin-Bob has a set of different illustartions of "commercial" tree products on his site - have a look here:
