By 1890 there were 100,079 natives of Wales
(excluding Monmouthshire) resident in the USA.

US born in Wales in 1900 by states, Pennsylvania was number one with 35,453 , and the state of Ohio  was second with 11,481. Scranton, Pennsylvania had the  largest single concentration of Welsh people outside of Wales and England  during the late 19th and early 20th centuries

The Census of 1930 revealed there were 60,205 foreign-born Welsh in the United States.

Pennsylvania had the largest number, with New York, Ohio, Illinois and Michigan also having having substantial Welsh communities.
