Halwill - Reuben MARTIN'S Suicide

Reuben Martin committed suicide on 5 February 1924 aged 19, at Halwill Moor Pond. Various stories about the circumstances of this tragic event have arisen from branches of the family, but we would like to set the record straight. Does anyone have access to newspaper accounts of the time please? Failing this, could anyone suggest which newspaper would have been in business at that time and details of how to contact them?

As you know his name and date of death you could apply to The British Library, Newspaper Library, Colindale Avenue, London NW9 5HE - email: newspaper[at]bl.uk and - for a fee - they should be able to find the information you are looking for.
