Robert Henry McGregor was a private in the 1st Bn, killed in action 1916, found him in the Commonwealth War Graves site. His youngest child was born Oct 1915 Greenwich, (husband's grandmother, still living Greenwich ), and it appears all his children were born Greenwich. I know he married Louisa Jane Webb who was supposedly much younger than him. Searching for their marriage, getting confused, sorry for my ignorance on English geography, sometimes Greenwich is listed Greenwich, Kent and other places Greenwich, London. Also how would i go about finding his service records from Australia ?

WW1 service records (those that survive) are at the National Archives, Kew, London - see their information sheet:
http://www.catalogue.nationalarchives.gov.uk/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=18
You would probably need to employ a researcher unless you can find somebody that is willing to undertake the research on your behalf and there is often little chance of success - you can try the online medal rolls though which will give you his regiment and number and, if your pay, medals issued.
You could try the local library for the area in which he lived - local newspapers often listed local casualties (sometimes with photos) and they may also have material collected for the local roll of honour/war memorial.
Good Luck

Prior to the creation of Greater London in 1889 (i think it was then) Greenwich was in Kent. Since the creation of Greater London it has been classed as London. It seems to have taken people several years after to not get confused. I often find people in the 1890s/1900s listed for Fulham,Middlesex when it was by then Fulham, London.
