Bungalow near Drayton Manor!
« on: Thursday 28 December 06 23:25 GMT (UK) »

This is a long-shot! I'm trying to find out any info on behalf of my 87 year old mum. Her grandparents lived in what she describes as a bungalow that looked like a pagoda in the 1930s! It was off Watling Street and she thinks that Drayton Manor would possibly have been built at the back of it? She remembers her grandfather thinking that the stained glass windows in the building were originally from a church, but they were, in fact, from a pub! The land at the rear held a small coppice of possibly lime trees. I know this information is pretty vague but if anyone recognises the building, or even the road it may be in, I'd love to hear from you!

Many thanks,

Wendy

The bungalow would have been in Fazeley or Mile Oak.  I suggest you write to the Tamworth Herald, tamworthherald.co.uk, and they will print your letter in the local paper.
Another person on these boards tried that and got the information she was hoping for. Good luck.

Wendy,

I don't know if you ever found the answer to your query but my Mum was bought up in Mile Oak.  She thinks the building you describe could be the Lodge that is opposite the entrance to The Peel hospital (Plantation Lane - I think).  The lane by The Lodge led to Drayton Manor, there were other bungalows down the lane.

In 1940s the Moulton family lived there.
