Charles RICE
« on: Tuesday 04 September 07 19:28 UTC (UK) »

Hi
I have today got the death cert for my Charles Rice.who died 30th October 1859, in Woolpit Suffolk. The person who was present at the death was a Mary Ann Rice.
Charles Rice was 85 years old at time of death, and died of old age.
There are no Charles Rice's born in Woolpit i have looked ( for the last 20 odd years, )
But if you take his death year and subtract his age it gives you an approx birth year of 1774, but there is a Charles Rice born in Elmswell and Baptized on 25 December 1774.
Could this be the one and the same man?. Please!
I have checked the 1841 census and it states Charles Rice born in County, on the 1851 census it say not known, ( great help )
Charles Rice had several children, one of them was a John Rice who married a Mary Ann Sadler, so the Mary Ann Rice could be his daughter in law although it dose not say so on the cert.
Advice please
William James

If it is of any help, Woolpit and Elmswell are adjacent villages and a few years ago it would have been very easy to just wander from one village to the next.
However, a bit more hazardous if you want to do that today as the main Suffolk trunk road, the A14, has been built and now separates the two parishes.

Every time I find an ancestor, I have to find two more !

SUFFOLK - Pendle, Stygall, Pipe, Fruer, Bridges, Fisk, Bellamy, Sparham
DERBY - Bridges and Frost (originally from Framlingham/Parham Suffolk)
NOTTINGHAM - Lambert and Selby
BERKSHIRE/then Hammersmith/Barnes LND - Fulker
LONDON/MDX - Murray, Clancy, Broker, Hoskins, Marsden, Wilson, Sale

Gt-Grandfather Michael Wilson was born in Cork, lived in Fulham London - arrived Boston USA 1889 alone - what happened next?

Hi S M.
Thank you for the reply, I have spent many years trying to find this man's birth and just thought this might be enough prove that he is mine?, but suppose i will have to keep digging.
Yet again i will look when i come down to Suffolk in October, how anyone dose not know where they where born which is what he put on the 1851 census, i don't know.
The list of things to do in the records office gets bigger and bigger.
Thanks again.
William James.
