A more recent burial - St Cyr's Stonehouse
« on: Tuesday 02 January 07 17:01 GMT (UK) »

Happy new year to you all!!!!

OK, I have a query regarding my grandfather's grave. Basically he died in 1957 (so, not THAT long ago perhaps when you consider what we are researching on here) and he's buried in the graveyard at St Cyr's, Stonehouse.
I would really like to know whereabouts he is buried, I'm pretty certain that his grave was unmarked or possibly only had a small headstone which has now gone. I would love to know where he is.
Would there be records at the church?? Or will I need to look elsewhere??

Thanks for your help everyone. xxx

Hi there!

I don't know if this is relevant but the last time I went grave-hunting (at another church) I happened to bump into a churchwarden who showed me what he described as a copy burial book - very helpful it was too - all laid out by row and grave number!

I'm going into Stonehouse tomorrow and will ask my contacts there if St Cyrs has such a record. If you like to give your grandfather's name, I'll see if I can find him.

Best wishes

Angela
