Horobin family tragedy
« on: Thursday 04 January 07 21:04 UTC (UK) »

During a posting for a Staffordshire look up for the marriage of Samuel Cartwright and Martha Horobin a researcher found a free BMD record of 1881 deaths of  Elizabeth 42 yrs, Harriet 11 yrs and Rachel 9 yrs. in Wolverhampton June Quarter.  Deaths are registered as Horobin.

They show up in the 1881 census as being all together, though the name is transcribed (or written) in the census as Robbins.  The deaths, I believe could be my g grandmother's mother and sisters.

Does anyone know when the census was taken, was it before the June quarter?

Is there anyway of finding out why a mother and two daughters die either at the same time, or close to each other.

Thanks

Annette

Hi Annette,

The 1881 census was taken on 3 April 1881.

I suppose you'd have to order the death certs to know what they died of...

Hi Annette

Thought I'd add this as Horobin is an unusual name.  There was a family by the name of Horobin living in Nantwich in Cheshire in the 1700s.
