Chris
You need to generate pages in "html" to upload to your webspace. Does Family Tree Maker have a button for creating a website or webpages?

Hi Chris,
Does Family Tree Maker have a button for creating a website or webpages? you'll find tutorials here for Legacy Topic: TUTORIAL: Step-by-Step Guide to building your website 4 a) Building a website using a Family History Program http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,93490.msg397239.html#msg397239
and Genpro Topic: TUTORIAL: Step-by-Step Guide to building your website 4 a) Building a website using a Family History Program (continued) http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,93490.msg397240.html#msg397240
have a look at them, and then have another look at your FTM to see if there is a similar sort of button, or menu point.

Looks like Dinie has already supplied the answer: FTM only lets you upload to their website.
So try this:
- export your FTM data to GEDCOM - download Legacy (free) (see tutorial) - import your GEDCOM into legacy - follow the instructions in the tutorial to create a legacy website.
alternatively, as I said somewhere else (can't remember where), download free demo versions of as many FH programs as you can find, import the GEDCOM and export to HTML (on your computer). Then view offline Topic: TUTORIAL: Step-by-Step Guide to building your website 5 Testing / Pre-Viewing your website http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=93490.msg397243#msg397243
Once you've found one you like, you can upload that to your site.

In FTM2005, under File there is Export File, you can choose to export individuals or the whole file, it then only allows you to save as FTW (FTM file) or GED.
There is also another Export, the choices of which change depending on what you want to export. The choices are Acrobat PDF, Plain Text TXT, Word Processor RTF, Spreadsheet CSV. However, mine only ever has PDF available as the others are greyed out.
Under the Internet options, they are Create a Family Home Page Update or Edit my Home Page Add Tree/Report to my Home Page Add Picture to Home Page View my Home Page
Don't know if FTM2006 has any other choices.
I tend to use Edit/copy to transfer my reports & gedcoms into Word or my NOF programme

Hiya,
I would go with Bob's idea above. It seems a pain to have to downlaod Legacy and move gedcoms around but when your information is in Legacy the html web pages are really simple and quick to generate. (And it is free)
If you want to see the type oftree webpages you can get...
http://fallon.rootschat.net/surnames.html
http://fallon.rootschat.net/4.html
Obviously the information depends on what you want to show and have already loaded. But I like the flexibility.
