Help wanted :Saved files not recognised
« on: Monday 08 January 07 16:42 GMT (UK) »

Hi Downside and Paula Too,

I have spider on my machine [it was in the XP package] I have only played it once.[cards are not my scene]  Under game on the menu  it has a save option,  I pressed that to see what happened and when I closed the game down, I was asked if I wanted to save it!  I said yes and was told that it had a copy saved, presumably from the first one.

I have no idea where it has put it, but I wanted to know how it works.  It saves an icon to my start list, but  it was not saved anywhere else. I assume that it just gives you a quick start next time you want to play.  Next time I opened it I got a blank board. Daft I call it!!  Ambiguous wording I'd say!!

When you start up spider solitaire the last item in the menu is "Open last saved game".
If it's "greyed out" then you haven't got a game saved, but if its in normal type then you have.
The game is usually saved within My Documents as Spider.sav
As you say it doesn't like to be opened from within My Documents but only from within the actual game itself.

Ahhhh HA!

That's sorted that out.
Thanks PSB
I thought it was bloomin' funny not being able to open it.
I've just gone back and done a trial run....bit round the houses, but it works fine and I suppose it's only a matter of getting into the routine...

My problem tucked up nicely, I'll be interested to find out what happens in with the message that started this thread. I thought they looked similar...but now...hum, not so sure.
