I guess Seighford must be right on the Salop / Staffs border ? Not my neck of the woods, but it might explain why we dont see John in Staffs ....

Hi again!

I have got the birth-cert now and Alice is born the 11 april 1908. Burley Fields. Castle Church. R. D.

It΄s very strange since the registration in Finland say 16 april 1907 AND the tombstone say 14 april 1907!!!!!!

Well, there is no one to ask about this anymore but it is strange.

But I do belive this cert is the right one. Her father was John Charles Mellings and a agricultural labourer as the M-cert said he was (Farm Worker).  The mother was Emma Elizabeth Mellings formerly Bennet.

Newfy if you are there? I tried to order the M-cert for John Charles and Emma but they need a date for that so I dont know what to do next.

Hi Marcus  Smiley

Aren't they confusing us  Tongue

You don't need a date to order the marriage cert  Huh

The reference Newfy gave you is perfectly enough to order the cert ...

Finally got the M-cert on John Charles Mellings (29 y labourer) and Emma Elizabeth Bennett (21 y Servant)!

They married in December 25th 1901 at St Chads Church in the parish of Seighford in the county of Stafford.

Both their residence at the time of marriage was Creeswell (Should that be creswell?).

Johns father had the same name as him, John Charles Mellings and a Labourer.

Emmas father was Thomas Bennett and also a Labourer.

Is there any chance to find any related people today on this information?

Tia

And now I found out I could search in Ancestry.co.uk Tongue

I found out that Alice mother Emma Elizabeth Mellings died 1910.

I didn΄t know how to search for another child than Alice for Emma and John Charles  Huh

But John Charles remarried with Rose H Morgan in 1912.

How can I see if they had any children?

Hope for help.
