I saw it tonight too. Could be interesting, looks like they are having a go at old jobs. I wasn't really paying that much attention either.
Shall watch out for it.

I am not familiar with the expression "You don't know you're born" although I have seen it on several posts.
Not sure if it is because I am Canadian or stupid... could someone please explain?

is back from hols :-( and back at work :-(

its an old expression which sort of translates as
you don't realise how lucky you are or young people don't realise how hard it was in the 'olden days'
there are many more similar expressions you've never had it so good etc etc
hope that helps

I don't imagine so, even though most of the population apparently were Ag Labs it is thought to be boring for TV viewing.
Actually I think some aspects of it could be quite interesting, I would love to know for instance what they used some of the farm implements for.

... but there was that Year in the Wye Valley programme a year or so ago ... they were basically 'ag.lab's' ... digging, sowing, growing, harvesting, caring for animals, butchering ... eating ! That was quite interesting ... but its been done !

Don't do much television but caught the trailer. I hopefully will remember to watch it (if not my mum will tape it ... she tapes everything ). I do hope they put them through their paces coz it was so very tough 100 years ago and yes we 'don't now we are born' Let me think how many times I say that to my teenager
My g grandmother had loads and loads of kids, lived at a different address for everyone born and died at the age of 41 after giving birth!!
Look forward to it Cal

Thanks Cal, I haven't given birth but I am 41 next month!!!!!
Didn't Tony Robinson do something similar to this in his series, the worst jobs, I suspect this is what they will be doing, it makes good TV!!!!!

sorry Kb
I must say I did panic too a couple of years ago when I hit 41 (hoping it wasn't a 'family' thing as she had the same name as me )!!!
Yes Tony Robinson did do a programme about this stuff. The one I remember is the cotton monkeys. The poor children who darted under the cotton looms to retrieve the fallen waste from the machinery. Many lost their lives and if they didn't they lost limbs as the huge looms methodically turned in and out. It quite upset me as I know how scatty my daughter is and to put her crawling under a thunderous machine for 2 seconds would be disasterous...they don't know they are born !! (breaking a finger nail is the end of the world for her !!)
