Yet another stray marriage, JARVIS of Thaxted & SEARL of Lindsell
« on: Friday 19 November 04 11:07 UTC (UK) »

This one found in White Notley PRs:-
Patient Jarvis of Thaxted married Mary Searl of Lindsell 4 Jan 1753 at White Notley.  No further details were given.
Hope it is of use.  Neither of the couple are directly related to my lines but Mary could be distantly related.  I would appreciate being advised if anyone had been looking for this marriage, purely out of curiosity.  Cool

Sorry Anne, I'm not related, I only recorded the marriage because neither person was from Lindsell.  I know how hard it can be when you are looking for a marriage which is not to be found in either the Groom or Bride's birthplace, so I just recorded any strays I found in whatever PRs I was looking at in the hope it would help someone.

It will be interesting to see if someone out there is related to Patience, so good luck.

The name Patience Jarvis I found  interesting, it has the same sort of ring to it as the name of one of my ancestors, Repentance Stowell.  Repentance married in 1740 so they were both in more or less the same time frame.
Did your Patience name a son Patience?
Repentance didn't name a son after him as far as I know, although to date I have only found five children, two of whom were males.
Regards.

Hi
Patience Jarvis got his forename from his mothers maiden name Elizabeth Patience.
Patience and Mary as far as i am aware only had the one child Mary born 1754 she was baptised in Gt Easton.

I have no other details on the family but one day..........

Hi Anne,
I'm also at the "one day" stage with Repentance, he married Elizabeth Wade at Chelmsford in 1740, then off they went to Sandon and had five children baptised (first baptised 1741), no children named Repentance or Elizabeth baptised at Sandon.  I have no idea where Repentance or Elizabeth came from, soooo one day.....
