my pennysworth is
Hugh aged 45 years, single, son of John Ross & Eliza Chapman married 7th April 1891 to Edith Agnes aged 39 years, single, daughtr of Theodore Schroder at Post Office, Naracoorte, District Robe reference book 167 page 275 then we have the marriage of this Hugh to Emily Tilley
this is not relevant to your branch I would have to agree there with you Lily girl
So the Miriam that Alan is buried with could very well be his first and only wife!

Bearing in mind that Hugh b.abt 1845 arrived in 1866, the best evidence in Australia of his parents' names would be on his marriage certificate.
Perhaps sks with Scotsland People credits could do a birth lookup for you.
I would purchase the marriage certificate.

That's the problem.
An old relation remembers hearing about how strict miss Schrader was.
I'm convinced that Hugh did infact marry Edith Agnes Schrader in 1891
The Hugh you talk about married to Miriam (is Hugh Frederickk Alan Ross) is infact the son of Hugh mentioned in the above marriage to Edith Agnes.
Confusing coz of dates.
So we have Hugh Ross and Edith Agnes Schrader married
they had 2 children.
1. Hugh 1892 and sister 2. Edith born 1894

the marriage you quoted is right the other is wrong don't worry about my message above!
Still can't find parents of Hugh that came in 1845 tho.
