I'm looking for the parents of Mary Ann Eliza (Elizabeth?) Fish. She was born about 1860 and was married to George Atwood in Brighton in 1887. The marriage certificate states her father as David Fish (Fisk?). Has anyone information about this person?

Welcome to Rootschat handmr
I have had a look on ancestry but cannot trace Mary Fish born 1860 in Sussex. I also had a look for Elizabeth and Mary ann but no luck. Do you have any more details that might help the search?

Thanks all of you for the help. George and Mary Ann were definitely living in Sussex when my mother's mother and her siblings were born between 1889 and 1899 and also after my mother was born in 1916 because she spent a lot of her holidays with them. It just seems very odd that they don't occur in any census. Still a mystery!

Could you add the name of the children - it may help find the family on the census

There's a David Fisk / Fish aged 15 in Brighthelmstone (Brighton) 1851 census ..
HO107/1646; Folio: 311; Page: 23 - Father is David, who can be seen as FISH in 1861
If we can find from 1851, which daughter of the Harrisons was around in Luton, we might then find the FISH / HARRISON marriage ....
UPDATE: This chap can be seen in 1871, a grocer - alone and unmarried/widowered
