Have spent the last 40 mins on the 1891 census on line trying different combinations to find you BANKS as follows

There are 107 people called Banks in Pemberton - but no family match up with your info - so I spread the net a bit further.

There are 3508 in Lancs called Banks, but this time I was looking for Jane under 1, William 2, Ellen 4, Robert 6 - (ages on 1901 less 10 years).

There were 86 people called Robert, but only 2 aged 6 - one has a father William who is a Corn Miller, the others father is Joshua, a coal miner.
There are 126 people called Ellen but only 1 aged 4 whose father is Joseph a General Labourer
There were 205 people called William and 4 of them were aged 2 – First is a Pauper in a home, 2nd has father William who is Boot Machinist, 3rd has a father William who is a Drysalter & Warehouseman and the last has a Father Peter who is a Coal Miner.
No Janes less than 1 year old.
NON of the above had siblings that match up with either Jane, Robert, Ellen and William

Sorry Margaret, I have been unable to find them

Chris, I think you have been on another wild goose chase. You must know Pemberton quite well by now.

William(12 in 1901), Jane (10) and Ellen(14) were all born in a place called Orrell. Don't know whether you fancy trying again or not.

Hi there Pauline

William(12 in 1901), Jane (10) and Ellen(14) were all born in a place called Orrell. Don't know whether you fancy trying again or not..

Spent about 20 mins on the 1891 census on line with the following results:

Tried putting Ellen Banks in Orrell – came back with zilch
Tried putting Jane Banks in Orrell – came back with zilch
Put in William Banks in Orrell - came back with

RG12/ 3064/ Folio 83/ Page 12 - Number 120 Dudley? Road, Pemberton, Lancs

BANKS William, Head, Marr, Coal Miner, 35, born Orrell, Lancs
Mary, Wife, Marr, 33, born Pemberton
Elizabeth, Dau, Unm, 7, born Pemberton
James, Son, Unm, 5m born Pemberton
William, Son, Unm, 1week, born Pemberton

Looks like it could be a promising but Huh??
