Milne family, Fordoun
« on: Saturday 13 January 07 17:21 GMT (UK) »

Hello all,

I'm interested in finding out more about the family of George Milne, who married Janet Ogilvie in Fordoun in December 1807. They had several children, William Milne b. 1809, Fordoun
Mary Milne b. 1811, Fordoun
David Milne b. 1813, Fordoun
James Milne b1816, Fordoun
George Milne, b.1819.

The younger George was a mason, he is later to be found in Denny, Stirlingshire - I'm unsure whether the whole family moved, or just George.
Any information on any of the family, their forebears etc would be most welcome,
Janet

Thanks joebhoy, I'll follow this one up to see if it is my James.

Further to this: my George Milne (married in 1807) seems to have come from Dunottar. His wife Janet Ogilvie was from Fordoun. Any info on their parents or siblings would be most welcome, thanks.

I don't know when they were born, but assume around 1785-ish.

I have found two George Milnes born in Dunottar in 1771; one in October  to John Milne of Newtonleys; the other in April to Davd Milne, a junior tenant in Lumgair.
Trouble is, i don't know which (if either) of these is my George.

I assume that David Milne is the same who married Christian Hog in 1767. Is anyone researching either of these families? Could anyone provide any more information which might help me rule out one or other?

thanks,
Janet
