George gives Oxford Oxfordshire on the 1891 census and Oxford on the 1901 census. The best known Hambledon is in Hampshire.
Since George obviously isn't consistent on where he was born you really do need his marriage details for his father's information. What does the H. in George's name stand for? Have you traced his marriage certificate and details. A George White marries in Wandsworth registration district at about the right time. One of the possible spouses is a Sarah Frances Stanley. If this is the right marriage what information does George give about his father?
Marriages Mar 1875 STANLEY Frances Sarah Wandsworth 1d 731 STANLEY Sarah Frances Wandsworth 1d 731 White George Wandsworth 1d 731
On the 1891 census Sarah is Sarah F and on the 1901 census she is Francis. Next door to the family is Thomas G Stanley with his granddaughter Emily White aged 24 born Streatham.
Regards

Hello Jackie, Many thanks for your offer. That's very good of you. I would appreciate any help as it's quite complicated. I'm trying to pin down this George H.White. This is what I have from census information:- 1861 census living in Hambledon with widowed mother. Mary Ann Austin aged 5, born Hambledon, is also shown as a visitor. 1881 census gives birthplace as Hambledon, Buckinghamshire. Living at Granvill Terrace, Number 5, Eardley Road, Streatham. 1891 census gives birthplace as Oxfordshire. Living at 137, Eadley Road, Streatham. 1901 census shows that he was living at 137, Eardley Road, Streatham. An Emily White is living next door (1891 census-aged 15 and 1901 census-aged 24. Born Streatham.) with her grandparents at 135, Eardley Road where her grandfather Thomas Stanley is a baker. I have George H. White's DOB as abt March 1853 and I believe his parents are Samuel White and Charlotte Titt and this is what I have from census info:- 1841 census Charlotte Titt is living next door to the White family in Hambeldon. Her mother is shown as Head of Household. 1851 census shows her at Skirmett, Hambleden, Buckinghamshire with Samuel White aged 41 born Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, Head. Unmarried. Labourer. John White aged 36 born Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, Brother. Unmarried. Sawyer. Charlotte White aged 28 born Hambleden, Buckinghamshire, Cousin. Unmarried. Lacemaker.
Marriages Dec 1852 WHITE Charlotte Henley 3a 799 White Samuel Henley 3a 799 Did Charlotte White marry her cousin Samuel?
1861 census shows Charlotte as a widow with son George in Hambledon. Mary Ann Austin, aged 5 is shown as a visitor.
I have some confusion with Georges' wife (s) as well:- In March 1875 I have found a marriage of George H. White to Sarah Frances Stanley (Wandsworth 1d 731) 1881 census Sophia is using Frances as her first name and working at the home of Edmund Oadley, a member of the Stock Exchange, at 192, Adelaide Road, Hampstead. No definate record in 1891 census as it is possible that this lady may have married before marrying George White. 1901 census first shown at 137, Eardley Road as wife named Frances. All in all quite a lot of info from census, however I would like to pin down the dob of George H. White and confirm his parents and to find out if he married more than once. Sorry for such a long reply, but I though its best as it's pretty complicated! Any information you could find would be much appreciated. Kind Regards, Roger

There is a birth for George White March Q 1853 in Henley reg district (as mentioned above) which covers Hambleden Bucks. The registration district for Hambleden was transferred from Wycombe to Henley in 1845. However, though Henley is Berks, the parish records for Hambleden is in the Bucks RO. I can have a look and see if he is there when I go next week.
