Hi
Welcome to rootschat.    Can you be a bit more specific about names and dates?  King is a very common name in that area.   I have a lot of information about various King families in Westmorland but more in the Kirkby Stephen area and they originated in West Witton, Wensleydale.
Do you have all the census records?
Regards
Andrea

Hi, the head of the King family was Robert born in Kirkby Lonsdale in 1833. He was a tailor by trade and married Nancy Thompson in about 1855. Is that any help. Cadge.

Not my line but I have him in the census.
1841 HO107/1161/0 F27 p22 Kirkby Lonsdale
Robert King 45 labourer Not born in County
Ellen 50 not b in county
William 24 not b in county
Robert 7 b in county
Robert Caton
Wm Caton both born in county
Agnes Wilson 1 not b in county
1851 an apprentice taylor age 12 with Wm Docker HO107 2441 F656 p3
1961 Rg9 3973 F33 p13 Stainton
Robert 26 Taylot b KL
Nacy 25
Mary J 1
Eleanor 2 months all b Heversham
1871 RG10 5291 F4 p1 The Row Stainton
Robert 38
Nancy 37
Eleanor 10
John 7
Robert 6
James 5 all b Westmorland
1881 with second wife Ann Whitehead (marriage 1876)
Robert 45
Ann 43 b Sedbergh
James 14
Margaret 8
Elizabeth 4
Joseph 2
Eleanor Whitehead 16 step daughter b Milnthorpe

You may already have some of these.   Getting a marriage certificate will confirm his father's name.  The ages don't quite match up but I can believe the boss in 1851 would not be sure of an age for his apprentice!

Actually his baptism is on the IGI.  www.familysearch.org is a first port of call to look up baptisms - though it is not full coverage.  Fortunately it does have some Kirkby Lonsdale records on it.  Robert is a son of Robert and Jane and there are five other children.  You click on the batch number at the bottom of the record and put in parents' names to see what siblings there are.
There is also a marriage for his father, Robert, to Eleanor Caton so that explains the Caton children who are with him in 1841.   Jane must have died.    The marriage to her may be on there somewhere.  I did not look for it.
