Missing Ggggranm Margaret Flockhart
« on: Monday 15 January 07 19:10 UTC (UK) »

Hello, I have just registered and wonder if anyone can help.  I have lost my 3 x gtgrandmother Margaret Flockhart b. Aberdour, Fife 17/1/1815 married Wm McBeath Auchtertool 20/6/1833.  She had 6 children btwn 1834 and Christina in 1847/48.
She then seems to disappear.  All first 5 children were baptised ex Christina whose birth does not appear to have been recorded although the others were - significant?  Did Mgt die in childbirth?    Family relocate to Kincardineshire where Wm McBeath remarries.  New at this - help

Hi Shebe

Welcome to Rootschat!

Certainly it looks like Margaret may have died between 1846-51. There is no sign of her on the 1851 Census index (the original image available on the pay to view site Scotlands People would show whether William was a widower). William and 3 of the children in 1851:

William McBeath 44, Blacksmith (journey Man), b. Thornhill, Perth
Isabella McBeath 14, b. Thornhill, Perth
Alex McBeath 7, b. Auchtertool, Fife
Christina McBeath 5, b. Auchtertool, Fife

Address: High Street, Stonehaven, Dunnottar Kincardineshire

Hard to say when exactly she died as it would be before the begining of official registration in Scotland in 1855. No death certificates are available before this time.

Regards.

Hello,
I'm contacting you from Australia. I have been starting the search for my favourite son-in-laws ancestors, and he is a Flockhart, which then makes my eldest daughter and two grandsons, Flockharts.
His father was William Flockhart b. July 1919 Edinburgh. He had a sister Flora, who only recently passed away. His grandfather was also William.
His mother was Evelyn Joyce James b. 10/12/1922 Suffolk.
I know that his father served during the war and I have him putting on paper his service record for me.
And he has a lot of questions to answer, like:
When did they marry?
Where were they living in UK?
When did they migrate to Australia?
But as I said it is really early days for me in my search.
Because he is so busy and my daughter works as well, I volunteered (I wonder about myself sometimes) to try to trace his family for him.
So it was really a surprise to find someone else searching for the Flockhart name.
Any hints you may be able to give me on how to proceed in my search would be greatly appreciated.
My son-in-law is Ralph Charles Flockhart, and he has a brother John, and a sister, (who's name I forget at present).
Anyway, nice to know someone in the family is searching as well.
Bye for now
