This is a useful site for those, like myself, who are living outside the UK.

  http://www.ukvillages.co.uk/

I have used it many times for maps and information on an area I am researching.

Cheers

I have found http://www.magic.gov.uk/default.htm useful for places in the UK, although it is far more detailed for environmetal reasons, I found it helpful because it details parishes & small villages, perhaps you might too  Wink

I often use

http://www.old-maps.co.uk/

It is a large scale Ordnance Survey Map for the whole of the UK from 1870, often showing individual houses and farms. It ties in well to the 1871 and 1881 census.

Falkyrn,
I got info for Wales from it too, and they are still developing the site.

Thanks for that Wendi ... I must have missed it when trawling around ... it is quite an extensive site

Another good site is http://www.abcounties.co.uk/ which gives details of old and new county boundaries

Hi,

This site is useful if you would like a modern map of a street and location.  Only for UK but it's nice to see how the area looks now, also useful if you are wanting to visit the area or street as gives local transport links.

http://www.streetmap.co.uk/

May be of use to someone!

Sorry about the horrendously long link but this takes you to John Snow's Map of London 1859.  Haven't seen it posted before.
