amesbury reg district?
« on: Wednesday 17 January 07 10:49 GMT (UK) »

I have so far come across 4 'Waters' births c1780-1801 on the 51 census but cannot find the baptisms of any of them on the igi! Would Amesbury come under a different district??

Thanks

Would any of these be of interest?

Parents John Waters and Martha:
Mary christened 11 Aug 1796
Elizabeth christened 28 Dec 1798
Elizabeth born 15 Mar 1804, christened 14 April 1804
James christened 28 Feb 1808

Parents John Waters and Ann:
John christened 7 Feb 1780
Henry christened 26 April 1781
Thomas christened 10 July 1783
James christened 24 May 1785
Ann christened 30 Sept 1786

All christenings were recorded in Amesbury, Wiltshire.
There are more that go further back if this is of any help.

Thankyou,

I have just been pm'd these from another rootschatter. The John and Martha look like the likely parents especially as there is a gap between the 2 Elizabeth births in 1798 and 1804. Its just a shame he isn't on there to prove this point. Could this John and Martha be the son John born to John and Ann in 1780 or The father John who's wife Ann may have died and he remarried a Martha?

Many thanks,

Do you want me to go further back to see if I can find anything else?   Perhaps I could check the marriages for you as well?

hi there,

I have found a couple of marriages on the IGI. Number 1; a John Waters to an Ann Self in Woodford, Wilts 1776 and then no 2; a John Waters to a Martha Marsh in St Deny's Warminster, Wilts 1792 which both seem like possibles. My main problem lies in Henry's baptism c1801 when i have that then i can make the connection but until then i am just making presumptions.

Many regards,
