Would it be possible for any one who is going to H A L's to perhaps look for a baptism for James Beaumont in Watford. ( Beamont, Beament, Bemment, Baymont )
According to the 1851 census he was born c1823 in Watford but is living in Rickmansworth with his wife Ann. On his marriage cert his fathers name is Thomas but there doesn't seem to be any record of a Thomas who could fit.
I know he isn't the James Beamont born to James & Elizabeth in Rickmansworth c1822.
I'm wondering if he may have had a late baptism & maybe Thomas is his grandfather. ??
Any help would be much appreciated as he has been a puzzle for quite a long time.
Hi Maddie - I have been searching for James in Watford for years - I have had a number of researchers look at the HALs records for me (I live in the US) but without success. I think that he is the brother of Thomas (who married Selina Cato) in Watford, brought up by Thomas and his father was actually Samuel Beaumont who died in 1823. I have absolutely no proof other than there is Anne Beaumont as witness to Thomas & Selina marriage (Samuel's daughter and Thomas's sister perhaps?) and there is an Ellen present at the death of James (Thomas's daugher perhaps?). I have not been able to confirm James & Thomas as the sons of Samuel but I believe that they were born in Middlesex and not Watford (again just a hunch)
