Charlotte Parsons
« on: Thursday 18 January 07 20:58 GMT (UK) »

Please can anyone find the birth or baptism of Charlotte Parsons. According to the 1851 census, she was born in Great Limber around 1811/12

She married John Roberts and they had offspring: Damaris, Theodosia, Georgiana and Jane (  did they run out of fancy names?)

Thanks,

Jen

Her first marriage to John ROBERTS was 6 May 1835  in Caistor so wouldn't show the father's names.

However she seems to have married James MOORE in Q3 1858, possibly Glanford Brigg 7a 1013 ... this marriage cert ought to show her father's name.  I think you'll find her as Charlotte MOORE in 1861 but, because the image is faint, some of the transcription is wrong (eg Theodosia is down as Thomas).

The IGI baptisms for Gt Limber have a gap between 1811 and 1824, so you may be unlucky there. Sad

Thank you Geoff,

I knew that John Roberts had died but hadn't realised that Charlotte had remarried. I shall send for the certificate. With her father's name I may be able to find other offspring born outside the "gap" dates in Gt Limber and maybe a name for her mother as well.

Cheers,

While on my annual visit to Lincoln Archives, I took the opportunity of checking the "missing years" at Great Limber.

Baptisms of children of Shiloh and Anne PARSONS (Shiloh's occ in brackets)
19 April 1813 Mary (Brickmaker)
14 May 1815 Charlotte (Brickmaker)
8 March 1818 William (Lab)
11 March 1821 Richard (Lab)

I suppose the Great Limber marriage in 1810 is relevant (I didn't check it)
Shiloch PARSON to Anne ARMSTRONG

Earliest child on IGI
5 Oct 1811 John PARSONS of Shiloch and Anne

Thanks Geoff,

That's really useful and very good of you to let me know your findings.

Were there no names or even indication of gender on the 1818 and 1821 births?

Cheers,

Jen

Thanks.

Was it a senior moment? Please say yes, I will feel so much better if I know other people have them!

Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to offend. I have just returned from a work trip from Kendal to: Darlington, Redcar, Whitby, York, Harrogate. Back to Kendal this afternoon. That was one of our lower mileage weeks - last week we were in Glasgow, Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen and more. I understand about journey fatigue.
