the reason I asked about William is I google George Cowell + Whitehaven,and came up with the site Curious fox( A site like this)and someone is asking for information on William Cowell marrying in 1822 to Elizabeth Jardine at St bee's...Just a thought!

I think they had children called Robert born 1809 and Mary, born 1807, if Robert (or other brothers) had a son called John, I might be getting somewhere !

I think that IGI marriage might have something in it,it say's George's father was Robert,so it could be that George named his son after him..
