Would like to know of there is anything about Hans OLSEN born Larvick, Norway and emigrated to South Australia around 1878. I think Hans became a farmer near Streaky Bay.
Thank you cando

Cando, The 2nd Cd has a Peter Andrew Olson b.11.8.1842 Norway & he lived in the Mt Torrens & Nowood area. Occupation: Sawyer m. Elizabeth Hannah RANDELL/GREEN in 1867. Doesn't say when he arrived. He doesn't fit the Streaky Bay criteria either.
That should cover all the Olson type names mentioned in the Bisa. Sorry it couldn't be more helpful - Sashar

Hi Sashar
Thank you for doing all that typing I am wondering if my OH's family's ancestors knew him as "Hans" . I believe that "Hans" may be Gulich's brother. Perhaps he only settled at Streaky Bay and moved on. I appreciate you searching the index for me.
Cheers cando

Hi Cando, Yes I was wondering that too about the name Hans. As I was typing I thought maybe Johann could have been shortened to Hans, which means even John is a possibility.
Do you have any SA bmd's to check the Olsen name around Streaky Bay?
Regards, Sashar

Hi Cando,
I have south australian burial orders book 1926-1944 and there is a Hans Olef Olsen, died 21.7.1943 aged 78yrs, Ref.6204, Place of Death: Parkside MH
I wonder if someone could check the new SA death CD for you. If he never married etc there would be no other records other than a death.
Hope someone can follow that up for you - Sashar
PS - I see Sue has posted something else that looks interesting

Thank you Sashar and Sue - I think the Hans at Streaky Bay may be him. Will try to confirm with an relly of my OH's.
I am waiting for my SA BDM CD's to arrive - impossible to research my OH's ancestors in SA without them. I feel I can't be continually asking for lookups when this so called small family is growing by the day Wouldn't it be wonderful if the SA Govt would put them online. Petition???
Sue I only searched on the Kadina cemetery site as the state wide search wasn't functioning.
Sashar - Gulich's and Hans father was Christian.
Once again, thank you.
