*Update still need help with transcripts* Anyone going to GRONI Belfast
« on: Monday 22 January 07 12:34 UTC (UK) »

Hello all, is anyone going to the GRO in Belfast to do an 'Index Search' in the computerised indexes?

If yes, I wonder if you could do some 'transcriptions' from the registers for me while you are there.  I need 2 births, 2 deaths & a marriage, so if anyone can spare the time it would be brilliant.  Obviously I will pay the verification fee, it's just impractical for me to get over there myself.

If anyone can help I will be very grateful.  Regards, TonyR.

Hi TonyR,

You can request the transcription service from this website--it is very reasonable priced!

http://www.familyulster.com/

It is good to use their service if you know what year range to look up or know specific information.

Hope this helps you in some way. Wishing you the best of luck with finding your ancestors.

Hi Tees, thanks for the info - I hadn't come across them before - looks like they will be useful.  Regards, TonyR.

Hi TonyR,

You are more than welcome!

Perhaps I can help you with the marriage. I can do the births if they are before 1875.

Let me know if I can be of assistance.

Kind regards,

Tees

Hi Tees, shame but births are after 1875.  Marriage is December quarter 1931, Belfast 573, Sarah Johnston & Edward Mitchell.  Particularly interested in Sarah's marital status, whether widowed or not.  It will be brilliant if you can help, but don't worry if you can't.  Thanks for your interest.  TonyR.

Hi TonyR,

Terribly sorry I am not of much help since I only could find the marriage registrations--not having any access to the actual marriage records. (I am not based in NI.)

HOWEVER, there are two websites may be of use to your research:

1) www.ancestryireland.com --just ignore its statement being maintenance, go directly to three databases at the "bottom" of the statement, you may have some luck in finding 1930s birth/baptism records (most records here are chiefly from 1840s up to early 1900s.

2) www.emeraldancestors.com --this website I was going to look up on the marriage for you--since you already have information, clearly you need a transcription service.

Hope these may be useful in your genealogical research.

Kind regards,

Tees

Had no luck with web links provided by Tees, so asking again if anyone can help with transcript of records.  Willing to pay for transcripts, just need some kind soul to spare the time.

Births are: Kathleen Rooney, Sept quarter 1930, Belfast 281, parents John Rooney & Mary Haywood.

and James J Rooney, June quarter 1934, Belfast 282, parents John Rooney & Mary Haywood.

Deaths are: Catherine Rooney, Dec quarter 1930, age 0, Belfast 183

and James Rooney, Mar quarter 1935, age 0, Lisburn 486

Marriage is: December quarter 1931, Belfast 573, Sarah Johnston & Edward Mitchell.  Particularly interested in Sarah's marital status, whether widowed or not.  Any help will be much appreciated.  Regards, TonyR.
