Hello Foz!
Thank you for your reply. I´d be really pleased if your friend could "ask some questions" for me.
My great-great grandfather Daniel was born in Tadmarton on April 5th 1829. His mother was Ann nee Gennings, and his father´s name was William, and he was born in 1793. His parents were John Morbey and Hannah Sweatman, born in 1763 and 1770 in Tadmarton.
Daniel´s brothers and sisters were Thomas and Jospeh, Rebecca, Hannah and John (some others but can´t remember their names off hand).
The family lived in Tadmarton for generations. They were ag labs. Daniel left in around 1850 and went to Alvechurch. From there, he ended his days in the industrial Black Country as a furnace labourer (Rowley Regis/Dudley). He died at the age of 43.
I´d be so interested in anything you could find out.
Best wishes,
Sally

Hi, I don't know how I missed this post but I have Morbeys from Tadmarton Sadly your names are not ringing any bells though I have Joseph Moreby born 1726 in Broughton marrying Elizabeth VINCENT also from Broughton on 18 May 1756 they had Richard 1756, George 1759, Mary 1760, John. 1763 All in Boughton and then Betty 1765, Pheobe 1768,Sarah 1770,and finally William 1773 all in Tadmarton I thought these were the first MORBY family to move there Joseph was one of 6 children of John and Ann nee West john already had three children by first wife Kath WELLS. Of Josephand Elizabeth's children Mary 1760 married James NEEDLE 3 Nov 1782 in Tadmarton and was my 4x gt Gradmother. Would love to hear from anyone able to make a connection. Tadmarton isn't that big a place so I think we are going to relate. Trees

Hello Trees!
Yes, your Mary Morbey who became a Needle, was the sister of my grt x 4 grandfather John Morbey. His son William was the father of my grt grt Grandfather Daniel, born in Tadmarton in 1829. He was an ag lab, moved to Alvechurch in Worcs around 1850, and ended his days as a furnace labourer in Dudley. His daughters all became nailmakers in the Black Country, one of his sons was paralysed and later became a clerk, and my grt grandfather, also Joseph became a moulder (either iron or brick). So my lot also drifted into the industries of Birmingham.
One more interesting thing - Daniel married Ann TANDY from Alvechurch in 1853. She was born in 1834 in Alvechurch Worcs - I see you also have a Tandy Worcs connection - could this also be a match?
And one more thing which struck me when I looked at your website - on the pic of you with the baby, you look like members of my family - the same shape of forehead!
We are some sort of cousin then - pleased to meet you!
Let me know if you need any more info.
I´ve got a good friend on this site called Foz who lives in TM and has helped me a lot with the Moreby/Morbey/Morby family history. Hope she is reading this too?
Best wishes,
Sally

Hello Glad to have met up with you I'm struggling with the WEST of Banbury there is a family of Mayors and Aldermen in Banbury but so far I can't find a connection. Many thanks for the information about your line. I notice you have some moving from Dudley to Durham Where in Durham? We have a migration from Dudley to Spennymore small world isn't it. Sorry to disappoint but husband has DANDY not TANDY in Worcester. Again another disappointment I 'm not shown on the site with a baby I think that is our male line. Baby was 21 a fortnight ago gosh we have been doing this a long time these Morbey's are my Mum's ancestors. Will sort out a list of questions and PM you later please be free to ask as many questions of me and I'll keep you posted if I turn anything up. Trees

Hello!
Yes, feel free to ask anything. The migration was from Dudley to Chester-le-Street/Birtley in Durham. I don´t know why they moved though. Do you have any idea why they would have gone to the North East?
Going offline now - I´m hoping by now the Formula one will be finished!
Best wishes,
Aunt Sally

Simple answer was mining as one area slowed down another flourished my husbands ancestors were moving all over the country from mine field to mine field Cornwall to Durham (that line is at a brick wall in Birtley!) Somerset to S.Wales Dudley to Durham. Just as ours left rural Oxfordshire to the industrial midlands. My Sarah Needle went into service in the B'ham area. More mysterious is why my Hampton Poyle lot left for Worcestershire both rural both Ag labs.?? Will Pm Soon. Trees

Hello Foz, Nice to meet you, Isn't Rootschat great this meeting is exciting I hope the beginning of a good relationship. Are you also a Moreby descendant? Aunt Sally tells me you know Tadmarton well Has it changed much since my Sarah left in the 1840's or will today's photographs reflect their lives? We are trying to add "place" pages to our site to add a bit to the ancestors character Trees
