Conroy Family - Athy
« on: Monday 22 January 07 17:27 UTC (UK) »

I’m hoping someone can help me with research I’m doing into my husband’s family roots in Athy.
His great-grandmother Ellen (born in Hove, Sussex) married William Patrick Conroy sometime in the 1880s in Ireland. The family had a farm near Athy and the only names I have are Patrick Conroy and his wife Min (her maiden name was also Conroy) and a ‘cousin’ Kathleen. I know my mother-in-law and her family used to visit the farm in the 1930’s and 1940’s as I have several photos of groups of people most of whom are unnamed unfortunately. My husband also visited with his mother in the late 1950's and we'd like to know if it's still there and owned by the family.
Names I do have are: Madeleine Conroy (daughter of Min) who married a Christie Knight in 1946 in Sandymount,
Elizabeth Flinter who lived in Athy.
I do however have a catholic memorial card for a Patrick Conroy (maybe a father?) who died on 25 Jan 1906 so I’m presuming he is buried in the cemetery at St Michaels.
Any help would be useful!

That's great news Alor. It's taken several months. Sorry I didn't suggest it earlier.

I had the pleasure of meeting Celtic Damsel and a few other members earlier in the year in Dublin.
