If you can add her name, some of us might come up with an idea or two.

Hi Amanda J

Had a quick look on the 1891 census on line for your Eliza A Crocker aged about 13

Although there were 54 people with that name in 1891 - not one of them showed a birth place outside of England or Ireland, apart from a servant from Paris who was 28.

Do you have any further info

I don't have much information about her child/young adulthood. Just that she was born and lived the early part of her life in St John's Newfoundland. I understand her father was a fishermen.

I know that her parents died of 'the grip' and she was sent to England to live with a relative, name of relative unknown, I understand the relative had a daughter again name unknown. My mother thinks that her father's family orignally came from Bristol area.

I also have names of most of Eliza's siblings but they did not come with her and her father's name was Edward.

I know that this information will not be much help.

As far as I am aware the siblings all ventured to the USA.

One interesting thing however, one of Eliza's cousins married the first premier of Newfoundland Joseph Smallwood.
