Hi,
I was wondering if someone could help me please??
I am looking for a family called BLADES on the 1841 census, and they lived in the Askrigg area of Yorkshire.
WILLIAM BLADES age 60yrs??
ISABELLA BLADES Wife age 60yrs??
ELIZABETH BLADES Daughter age 20yrs Born in Askrigg
JAMES BLADES Son age 18yrs Born in Askrigg
There is also a possibility that they had other children, but I have no information on this.
Any help that you can give me on this I would greatly appreciate.
Many thanks, Pauline.

Hi Pauline,
Just out of interest did you find these name on the IGI?
The only reason I ask is I don't seem able to find them in the Aysgarth/Askrigg area in 1841.
I just wondered whether you had anything in concrete that they were there, or whether it is worth looking further afield?
Kindest regards,
Pels
Jane just spotted your post! I can't find them in this particular area?

Hi Jane and Pels,
I would like to thank you both for the information that you have given me.
I have only accessed this information through the I.G.I. I am just beginning to try and fathom out, if this is my family.
Still in the dark with it at the moment
Many thanks, Pauline.

This is quite good news Pauline - we can therefore spread our search further afield!!
Hopefully we can now come up with something to help!
If you have anymore information, however small we'd be grateful.
Kindest regards,
Pels

James Blades Henrietta Alton
Reeth, Vol. 24, page 276
I've only had a very quick look so far but I hope 1851 isn't as far as we can go with James .. ..

Can anyone tie the James Blades and Henrietta in Reply #5 27 February 2007 to James Blades and Henrietta Alton listed in BMD mar 31 March 1846 in Grinton, Yorks? My guess James and Henrietta are the same couple who emigrated to US with their sons, settled in Wisconsin and appeared on 1860 Federal Census in Benton,Lafayette County.
Thanks for any help
