Hi
I have a lot of Dixon's connected to my Stephenson line from Ulpha and Seathwaite.
If anyone has any information on my 6th gr grandmother Elizabeth Dixon b1714 in Coniston I would be eternally grateful. She married Moses Stephenson on 17th April 1742 at St John the Baptist, in Ulpha.
Regards
Lin

Hi Cowden,
I noticed your post re George Henry Marshall; my g-grandfather was William Henry Marshall b. about June 1857 in Barnsley, Yorkshire; he married Charlotte (Bray?) in 1878 and they had 4 sons, Albert, Walter, William Henry (my grandfather) and Joseph Arthur.
The photo of Henry Marshall is so like our family; I wondered whether you had any knowledge of these Marshalls - would appreciate any info at all. I have not been able to find parents for William Henry b. 1857, but his grandfather was Thomas Marshall, b. about 1808 (as per 1881 Census when he and his wife were living with Thomas as 17 Burleigh Street, Barnsley).
Regards,
Tisy

Hi Kazwald,
Further to my previous post, I have now found that my g-grandfather, William Henry Marshall b. 1857, was the son of Mary Marshall b. 1835; he was born at Barnsley Workhouse, and Mary never named the father in the birth cert. Mary was the daughter of Thomas Marshall, b. about 1808 and Sarah Smith. If you go to the Barnsley list, you will see the whole story there. Mary was working as a servant in the house of Joseph and Elizabeth McLintock in 1851; Elizabeth died in 1852 and as I have not been able to find a death in Barnsley for Joseph, I am assuming he was still alive in 1856/57 and that Mary was still working for him then. I have been in touch with a McLintock descendant (as you will see) and we are trying to work out if there is a connection.
Send me an invite and I will let you have a descendency chart for our Marshalls - there must be a connection somewhere!
Cheers,
Tisy

Hi again Kazwald,
I forgot to include a photo in my last post - this is of my grandfather William Henry Marshall b. 1890, son of William Henry b. 1857 and Charlotte Bray, with his three sons, from the left -
Andre Lancelot (my father) William Henry (my grandfather) William Francis Eric
I think there is a distinct family resemblance to your grandfather, especially with my dad as he got older. The photo was taken about 1940, and all are now deceased.
Cheers,
Tisy

Hi again,
Sorry, unable to include the photo as the file is too big - will send it to you privately, once I have your email address.
Cheers,
Tisy
