Hi Everyone,
I'm really hoping somebody can help me find out a little more about my 4th Great Grandmother, Susannah Mortimore. Susannah would have been born in the 1760's, one date I have is 21/02/1762 but she was transported to Australia on the "Lady Juliana" which departed in July 1789 and her age was shown as 24 years, which would have her born in 1765. The birth entry on the IGI for 1762 shows her as born in Bridforth, Devonshire, Father: Edward Mortimore (spelt Mortimer).
Now for the second part of my query. At the Devon Quarter Sessions-Lent 1788 there appear to have been two Susannah Mortimore's standing trial. The first listing was, "Committed by T. Reynolds, gent, coroner, for poisoning her husband, William Mortimore." The second listing was, "Committed by G. Cooke, clerk, etc, for stealing a sheep and a lamb, property of Elias Langdon." My query is, which one was the Susannah transported on the Lady Juliana?
I know I am asking a fair bit with this one but any information or guidance anyone could give me would be very much appreciated.
Regards, Tissy
