1860 and 1870 US Federal Census
« on: Sunday 28 January 07 20:30 GMT (UK) »

Not sure this is the right section.

Can somebody please give me the details from these two censuses for John and Mary Wymond and family of Dearborn County Indiana. Both were born in England in the 1820s and all children were born in Indiana after 1853.

Thankyou very much

Fizzy,

Are you sure of all the information. I have found 2 John Wymonds born in England in Indiana in the 1860 census. One is born in 1810 and his wife is Rebecca, 47, born in Kentucky. He lives in Lawrenceburg, Dearborn County. And the other was born in 1828 and his wife is Elizabeth, 23, also born in Kentucky. They live in Evansville, Vanderburgh County.

I have the same people in the 1870 also.

Hiya,
Thanks for answering.

the person I am really interested in is Mary Coad. She was to USA and in  November 1853 she married John Wymond in Lawrenceburg Indiana. It was reported in the West Briton newspaper at the time.

So I am looking for a Mary Wymond born 1823 ish in England. I suppose the first census she would be on in 1860. Is there a Mary Wymond fitting that description and who is she with. I suppose that she could have married a John Wymond who had a second name that he used instead.

Thanks,

Fizzy,

You would think they wouldn't be so hard to find with the info you have, but I can't seem to find them at all. Were there other names mentioned in the wedding announcement? Maybe that would be a start.

Kathy,  Look at Philip Wymond with wife Mary, age 37 in 1860, in Aurora, Dearborn, Indiana.---Genealiza

ALL i have to go on is an announcement that was made in the West Briton newspaper in Cornwall in 1853.

"Lawrenceburg, Indians,US 20th November 1853, Mr John Wymond of that city to Mary Coad the youngest daughter of Robert Coad of Liskeard Cornwall "

Mary was baptised plain Mary, no second name that she could have been using.

Genealiza,

I had noticed that one. Fizzy, I will put the details of Philip and Mary here and maybe a name will mean something to you.

My great-grandfather and his brother were both baptised without middle initials in Scotland and suddenly on the US census records they both had the middle initial J. So who knows how things come about.  Tongue

I just looked them all over and they had a ton of kids. Before I post all of the info, I'll tell you this Mary was born in Ireland. Is that a possibility. She is stated as having been born in Ireland  from 1860 through 1900, so I don't think it is a mistake. Let me know if you still want the details.

Let me have a think about it. Thankyou

She was definitely born in Liskeard, Cornwall and not sure how we can make that Ireland.
