Hi
Looking for ancestors I recently visited the Globe Cemetery in Motherwell, although I didn't find what I was looking for I took pictures of some of the remaining headstones and transcriptions. I'll make a list and if anyone is interested would post it on the site or send it to them personally.

Hi, I have tried to find the Globe Cemetery a couple of times, but could not find it. I can see it on the old maps but could not find access. I know children of my ancestors are buried there, and as they lived at Old Logans and Roman Rd, its possible some of the parents are there. Their name was Muircroft/Moorcroft. According to the council webpages the cemetery is closed?. Can you help, Thanks.

Howdy, my relative Catherine Hughes is buried in the Globe Cemeteryu, aged 16 months, died 08 Feb 1908. Do you have any details on Catherine?

Sorry, unfortunately no. I took photographs of some of the headstones that were not face down and it doesn't look like there were any Hughes amongst them.

Thanks Gerry, I did manage to find my way into the Globe Cem, but did not find any of my family, [Muircrofts] although from death records I know some of them are in there. Most of the stones had been vandalised or pushed over, face down. Did manage to get some photo's. Will have to try and get through to the Heritage Centre to look through their records sometime.
My mothers name is Farrell, she came from the Law. Her father came from Penrith and Grandfather from Baltinglass in Co. Wicklow.

My grandfather came to Law from Dumfries after WW1. His father Michael Farrell moved from Ireland to Arlecdon Cumbria between 1859 and 1864 with his parents William Farrell & Roseann Burns. My uncle told me that they came from Co. Down but other rels researching say they came from Baltinglass.

My mothers father was Isaac Farrell who lived in the Law.
