How do I change my default email program from Outlook Express to my GoogleMail

For example when i click on this link
mailto:denisegilgallon[at]dogstrust11.freeserve.co.uk
it opens my outlook express it used to open with googlemail

Downside, I tried this (realised I would rather have gmail as my default for replying to sites), but I am only offered Microsoft Office Outlook, Outlook Express, AOL 8 (dunno where that comes from), MSN Explorer and Windows Live Mail.
There is no option to type within the box.
Can you advise please?

It seems to relate to which mail services you have installed plus the odd web mail (hotmail) - my list includes hotmail (which I use) and Eudora - which is my default mail - I do have AOL 7 - but I got that for free with my computer so it is installed. I have on occasion used yahoo mail - but that is not in my list.
If you google a query, you will find with both yahoo mail and gmail you have to download a program that makes the appropriate program your default email.
This was a Mozilla query - but scroll to the end - it also is said to work for IE

Download it et voila!

I have done it too I did have it set up with gmail but could not remember how to do it
