What's going on.
« on: Monday 29 January 07 07:19 GMT (UK) »

An enigma, any suggestions on this one. James Weavers c 1806 Wetheringsett married to Maria c1806 from Eye appear in 1841 and 1851 census, no problem. In 1861 census Maria is married to a Thomas Weavers c 1801 Wetheringsett I am assuming James died and she re married, but to another Weavers and I cannot find Thomas anywhere before 1861 census. Is he the brother of James?

I suspect that "Thomas" is an error, and should be James.  It might be worth getting Maria's death cert to see if she's described as "wife of...", or if husband was the informant.

Deaths Dec 1864
WEAVERS    Maria
Ipswich 4a 394

This death looks probable for husband James - like you, I can't see "Thomas" on any other census or death/marriage record:

Deaths Sep 1868
WEAVERS    James         68
Ipswich 4a 417

Cheers Dave, 2nd piece of puzzle, just have to find this Thomas now, or do I take it the enumerator mistook James for Thomas or forgot his pencil that day and guessed it when he got home.
All good fun though, thanks.
