Hi there, I have temporary possession of the above. Willing to look up your names for you. By the way, it seems to cover parts of Kilburn, West Hampstead and St Johns Wood too.

Hi Linda,
Could you have a look for any Howards? There is a possibility that a branch were in the area at that time.
Many thanks,
Nanny Jan

Many thanks indeed, Linda! Lovely picture of Downshire Hill too - we lived in Keats Grove when I was a child so it's all nice and local.
Alfred was well off in the 1880s, but was bankrupt by 1892 after his business failed. Poor chap.
Many thanks again

Thank you!
I would be grateful for anything on:
James WILLIS, whitesmith or ironmonger or?, living at 1 Gayton Rd or 83-84 High St. or somewhere else? Wife – Sophia WILLIS
Children –Emma Harriett, b. 1863 Frederick J., b.1866 Ada Elizabeth, b.1871-2 Ernest Edward, b.1880-1
I am especially interested in whatever happened to Frederick, if he is found in the vicinity. I think the other children were all still at home.
Thanks again. loo

James WILLIS, 1 Gayton Rd and 83-84 High St.
Nothing more than that.
But, I did find this advert on the front page of the Hampstead & Highgate Express for Saturday January 6th 1900

Hello,
Could you please see if there are any of the following Morley family members in the directory? Albert and Henrietta's children in subsequent censuses are born 'Highgate' and in 1891 Albert's residence was 62 Spencer Rd, Kentish Town.
Albert James Morley, bc 1862 Henrietta Morley, b 1862 Albert Edward Morley, son, bc 1882 Henrietta Morley, daughter, bc 1884 (possibly Charlotte Emma Morley, daughter, bc 1888) Simeon Morley, son bc 1889
With this information, I'll have a better idea of the parish church the children were baptised in.
Thanks very much, Richard

No Morleys, I'm afraid. The directory shows that 62 Spencer Rd was occupied by one Samuel Whitmore at that time. I found Spencer Rd on the A-Z, but it's now called Spencer Rise.
This is on Free BMD. Why not send for it, with the proviso that the parents are Albert and Henrietta. That way you would get part of your money refunded if was wrong. Bet that's the right one one, though
Morley Henrietta Charlotte E Pancras 1b 166 March Q 1884
What religious denomination were they? There's a list of churches and chapels etc in the directory, so if you let me know, I'll tell you what there was at that time in the neighbourhood.
