I am looking for info on Bowhill Selkirk 1941. My father was there with his regiment before going to the far east.
Was there an army camp there ?
any info please. thankyou

hi
i live in galashiels and bowhill is a country house near selkirk.  I dont know about an army camp but it is a big house with a lot of grounds

Bowhill House may have had other uses during the WW2 years. For example:

In January 1941 the Battalion moved to the Scottish Borders and the HQ was at Bowhill House, a home of the Duke of Buccleugh. A period of intense training was now undertaken with visits to the Campsie Fells for field-firing exercises.
