I have a mega brick wall with my Maltby ancestors. A contact referred me to a website and said that she thought she had seen details of my ancestors on this site, but was not sure where. This site contains literally dozens of pages crammed full of text that itself goes on for page after page, in an order that does not help me with my search. I am looking for a John Maltby so there are hundreds similar, however his wife was Esther, which is less common.
Can anyone tell me if there is any way of searching for a text string across a website that does not have a search function? Even if I had to do it page by page, that would be an improvement on manually scanning the text by eye, with the inevitable possibility that I have missed something,
Don't forget, if you are looking for text on a website (displayed on your monitor and not the whole site, then you can press 'ctrl' and 'F' at the same time. Enter the text you are looking for and then search that way.
Works for Windows XP.
Hope I've explained it OK, and that it's useful.
