Falkyrn, Even though I lived in Scotland for the first five years of my life - my father was in a Scottish Highland regiment - and developed a thick Scottish accent, it was beaten out of me by my mother when we moved south to Sussex. So I can only claim to be a Non-Scot, and am really grateful for this interesting link... keith So, how do I now do a search in a Census that includes all of Jessie, Jean, Janet and Jane for a forename at the same time?
Keith, You can,t be a 'non scot'. When me and the good wife got hitched we had a friend of Polish decent who asked us if it would be okay if he wore the kilt even though he had no scottish ancestry. Before all the real scots choke on their porridge we have to remind our selfs were Ah Jock Tamsons Bairns. regards Billy.
